Entrepreneurship Training for Refugees and Indonesian Started Its Second Cohort

10/10/2019

United Nations for Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and International Labour Organization (ILO) collaborate with Dompet Dhuafa and Atma Jaya University  started the second cohort of Entrepreneurship Training for Refugees and Indonesian. They have successfully run this program last year and more than 50 participants have graduated from this program. The program has been started for two weeks, since it is officially begun on 24 September 2019 in Bumi Perkemahan Ragunan, Jakarta.

As a result of last year's program evaluation, we believe that a team bonding before the beginning of this program is needed in order to know and learn more about each other and build a chemistry between refugees and Indonesians. On 26 September 2019, the participants started to learn in class, both in Umar Usman Business Campus of Dompet Dhuafa and Atma Jaya University, that is conducted by business facilitators. The learning method of this program is peer-to-peer learning and use ILO's community-based entrepreneurship modul as our training reference.

The program will be held until February 2020 and by the end of this program, participants will submit a business proposal and the best proposal will be granted a grant to start a collaboration business project between Indonesian and refugees. We hope that this program will be a sustainable opportunity to solve migrant limitation issues in third countries, for instances United States, Australia, and Canada.
